In 2015, following extensive discussions about pedestrian safety in the neighbourhood, Pocket residents were surveyed about a number of potential traffic and pedestrian safety initiatives.
Based on the survey results, the PCA made a set of recommendations to Councillor Paula Fletcher.
In April 2016, Toronto and East York Community Council approved a number of intiatives.
The initiatives that were approved are expected to be implemented by the City in the near future. Other initiatives require more study.
The City had also proposed installing a bike lane on Chatham Avenue. After further surveys of residents on Chatham by the PCA which found strong majority support, Councillor Fletcher has delivered a letter to Chatham Avenue residents. Her letter provides more details and asks for comments on the contraflow bike lane the City is planning to install there.
See the Contraflow bike lane letter.
Some of the initiatives were developed in collaboration with Ryerson University’s School of Urban and Regional Planning.
