The Pocket Newsletter

About The Pocket

Founded in 2003, The Pocket newsletter is a newsletter serving all residents of the Pocket neighbourhood. It is put together by a dedicated team of about a dozen Pocket volunteers. Published once or twice a year, each issue typically includes an editorial, in-depth feature articles, short updates on recent news in the neighbourhood, and a listing of upcoming events. Our editorial mandate is to feature only stories that are unique and specific to the Pocket neighbourhood; we cover local history, profile Pocket residents and nearby places and organizations, and generally document “what’s been happening” in the Pocket. The newsletter is funded by advertising and donations and delivered by hand to every residence in the neighbourhood by our volunteers. The newsletter is independently run and is not part of the Pocket Community Association.

Story ideas/article proposals from any Pocket resident are always welcome! Submissions can include article ideas, upcoming event listings, photographs, and drawings. All submissions must fit The Pocket’s editorial focus for consideration for the newsletter, and all ideas will be considered at the discretion of The Pocket editorial team. For general editorial inquiries or to submit story ideas, or if you would like to join us as a volunteer, please contact Marc van Beusekom at [email protected]. For all advertising and classified ad inquiries, please contact Susan McMurray at [email protected].
