Done Deal! TTC-PCA Greenspace Agreement is Signed!

At last! After years of negotiation, the PCA is pleased to announce that we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the TTC to protect the west and south parts of Oakvale Green at the subway yards. The MOU recognizes that the Pocket community has a stake in the greenspace and defines the maintenance standards which the TTC has been using to keep the grounds in reasonably good condition.

Over the years, several people have had a hand in designing, negotiating and signing the MOU.  We give particular thanks to Councillor Paula Fletcher and the TTC’s Virginia Dabrus as well as Susan McMurray who chaired the Pocket negotiating team and Diane Smith, PCA Treasurer, who kept the process on track in the latter years.  Paula Fletcher said, "I have been negotiating this agreement for nine years and it is great to have it finalized".

There is already an agreement with the TTC about the use and maintenance of the eastern portion of Oakvale Green, which was negotiated separately by the residents of Oakvale Avenue (OKRA).

The PCA is holding a community consultation on May 14, from 7:30-9pm at St. Leonard's (50 Euston, corner of Chatham and Euston) to get input from Pocket residents about maintenance of the greenspace. We will ask for priorities for remediation of the lands, to return the land to its original condition of 20 years ago. Community input will also be sought regarding a new name for the greenspace.  Working together, we can keep these lands as a valuable asset for Pocket residents and a place that can help to make us proud.

Please mark May 14th on your calendars and we'll look forward to seeing many of our neighbours at this community consultation.
