Phin Park Artist in Residence

The Pocket Community Association with support from the Toronto Arts Council is pleased to present Art in Phin Park with multi-disciplinary artist Jerry Silverberg. Jerry will be the Artist in Residence in Phin Park for the months of July and August. During Jerry’s time in the park he will be facilitating, demonstrating and teaching various arts practices.

The Art in Phin Park workshops will be on a drop-in basis for children, teens, care givers and adults, open to all the visit the park. Art activities include: drawing, painting, sculpture, theatre, storytelling, puppetry, mask making and stencil.

Bring your kids out over the summer to enhance their learning and develop skills in the arts.

For the month of August their will be special visiting artists that will present other activities including a drum circle and performances by professional storytellers from a variety of cultures.

We look forward to seeing you and your kids in the park for Art in Phin Park.

DATES: July: Monday to Thursday, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm August: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Jerry Silverberg Artist in Residence - Jerry Silverberg

Jerry Silverberg, lead artist for this project, brings a wealth of arts experience. His experience as a visual artist, theatre artist, illustrator and arts educator spans over 30 years. He has worked with some of the best art and theatre practitioners in the city.

As an illustrator he has produced posters for Theatre companies, storytelling festivals and illustrations for several books of poetry. His work has appeared in The Walrus Magazine, This Magazine, The Toronto Star, The Washington Post and The New York Times.
